A Z PROJECT 342 344 End of the Road

A Z PROJECT 342 344 End of the Road I finished listening to all of my CDs in jewel cases yesterday. My goal was to listen to all of them in under a year; I finished in 344 days - 21 days under my self-imposed deadline. 2059 CDs in 344 days, an average of 6 CDs/day, but really, it was more than that as I rarely listened to anything on weekends. It was only a chore was when I was faced with 10 or more CDs in a row from the same artist. The absolute worst was the three straight days of David Sedaris audio books, which I normally enjoy, but not in marathons of that length. For the most part, I enjoyed the process and the freedom from having to decide what to listen to. Did I learn anything along the way? Ive learned that I like most of the CDs I have, but there were CDs I knew I wouldnt like going into them. Some stuff I acquired, didnt enjoy, and havent culled from my collection yet. Everything I liked at one point in my life, I still like, and Im thankful I didnt get rid of CDs I though...

A Z PROJECT 214 220

A Z PROJECT 214 220 220 days into this stupid project, and well on my way to getting through all of my CDs in jewel cases within a year. At this point Im sick of listening to music 8 hours a day, but Im still finding things I forgot how much I enjoyed that I wouldnt normally choose to listen to. (*) asterisks note things that are burned copies and not an original release. CDRs without asterisks behind them were originally issued as CDRs. Day #214 PINK FLOYD - "Obscourred By Clouds" CD (Another great album. This ones a little more straight than the others, less psychedelic. Songs are pretty much evenly split between rock and acoustic. The production on this album is awesome.) PINK FLOYD - "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn" CD (Its a shame they didnt record more stuff like this, specifically like "Interstellar Overdrive". Thank goodness the Germans picked up the ball and ran with it. Sonically, this is a really interesting album. Theres lots of weird stuff goi...

A Z PROJECT 184 191

A Z PROJECT 184 191 191 days ago I started listening to all of my CDs in alphabetic order to see if I could do it. I found myself bored with what I was listening to and spending more and more time deciding on what to listen to. I realized I had a lot of CDs I never listened to, stuff I never had the urge to put on, and decided to just listen to all of them in order instead. My goal was to listen to everything in a year, or at least to see how long it would take me to accomplish this. Ive been tracking my progress on Facebook by posting daily playlists and giving my immediate thoughts on what I was listening to as I was listening to it. Ive since deleted my Facebook and thought Id post my progress here instead since I need to make more use of this Blog site anyway. I dont consider myself to be a writer, a music critic or an authority on music. This is simply a way to alleviate boredom at a job in which very little is expected out of me. Im also not posting these playlists to brag ab...
